German term or phrase: Dobbas
Der Dobbas, ein peltonnadelartiger Stroemungsstabilisator...
I've been looking for this term for several years. It had to do with gas flow in a burner. The figure in the text displayed something that looked like the needle in a garden hose. My translation: "the 'Dobbas', a Pelton needle-like flow stabilizer". My client accepted it. Whaddaya think?

Explanation:
Did a bit of web searching, but couldn't find much. The only hits I got on Dobbas were surnames. There are Pelton needle flood operation valves and Pelton needle service valves in use at the San Gabriel Dam (website: dpw.co.la.ca.us/hwc/dams/). I also talked to an engineer at a forging operation, who said he believes it's called the peanut at one of the company's former facilities, because it was sort-of peanut-shaped. The blast furnaces at that facility were from North American Manufacturing Company Ltd., whose web site did not yield anything useful. Your solution, to leave the original term in quotation marks, was probably the safest bet. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I suspected Dobbas was a person's name, and your detailed search is most appreciated, including the "extras".
