recharge principle


Explanation:
Adams et al, Enke, 2000 say:
1. Funktionsprüfung einer Grundwassermeßstelle durch Wassereinleitung mit vorheriger und anschließender Wasserstandsbeobachtung (möglichst bis zur Erreichung des Bezugswasserstandes)
2. Versuchsanordnung zur Bestimmung der Sickerwasseraufnahmefähigkeit eines Bodens oder eines durch Baumaßnahmen teilweise abgedeckten Untergrundes ... mit einem Infiltrometer.

Müller, Springer, 1999 says:
Auffüllversuch {recharge test}
Verfahren zur Bestimmung hydrogeolgischer Parameterwerte, wie z.B. ...

Nevertheless, I do not know the "Auffüllprinzip". More context may help to clarify. My "recharge principle" given above does not meet with much joy on the search engines.

Good, considering the second sentence, what is meant here is that the body of water can still be \"topped up\" with contaminants until the minimum requirement is \"achieved\". In other words, if the water quality is better than the minimum quality aimed for, we can keep on pumping in that dirt! But I still can\'t get an English equivalent, sorry. Possibly it is something like \"topping up principle\"?
