Auf einem Glasträger sind in einem nur 1,5 cm x 1,5 cm großen Testfeld DNA-Sonden an festgelegte Rasterpunkte gekoppelt. Falls diese einzelsträngigen Fängermoleküle in der Proben-DNA einen komplementären Bindungspartner finden, leuchtet der entsprechende Rasterpunkt in der nachgeschalteten Nachweisreaktion auf. Mit dieser Biochip-Technik lässt sich eine große Zahl von Einzelanalysen in einem Arbeitsgang mit hoher Testgenauigkeit zeit- und kostensparend durchführen.
