Hi Friends,

I don't have any pictures or anything for this, it's just something into which hooks are hooked in a lifeboat davit suspension system. Lang-auge, some sort of eye or shackle into which the hook hooks .... the word doesn't even seem to exist in this meaning ... at least I can find no reference. Any idea? This only comes 4 times in a 6k word text, in sentences such as:

"Bei Zugbelastung über ein eingehängtes Langauge hätte sich der Haken um die Lagerachse gedreht."

Nothing more revealing ...

Explanation:
I'm more or less guessing here, but the first thing that came to mind was a kind of shackle or hooking mechanism. So I checked a boat hardware supplier online and found what they're calling a "bow eye". Maybe a "shackle" will also do. See if this list of hardware strikes a chord with you....
