German term or phrase:Vorfahrer
Inhalt der praktischen Posten
Es wurde empfohlen, wieder Vorfahrer einzusetzen statt die Posten abzulaufen, da die Teilnehmenden wichtige Details anders sehen und/oder sogar übersehen könnten
I am having trouble understanding this sentence. What would be an appropriate equivalent for Vorfahrer?
This is a report on a traffic education contest (cycling), and they are talking about the practical stations and theory stations here.
Explanation: I don't fully understand the context, but as you say it is about cycling I assume that Vorfahrer here are people who will ride bikes or drive cars at the front - to show others the way, or whatever.

Explanation: I think they mean to send somebody through the course first so that the competitors/participants/students can take a look at it while some else is riding through it before they have a go at it themselves.

Explanation: In American car races the escort car completes 2 turns around the track with the race participants following at a measured pace in their assigned starting order. Once the escort car veers off the track, the race proper starts with everybody going full throttle. Though it's technically the lead car, escort car means that it escorts the pack around the track.
