German term or phrase: Konus/Doppelkonus
This is again from a report on tests carried out on metal anchors/fasteners. Under the heading for one of the tested anchors it says "Bolzenanker mit Doppelkonus". Is the Konus here cone or taper? Further in the text under anchor specifications there is a column for "Konus Durchmesser". Cone diameter? Taper diameter?

English translation:Cone
Explanation:
In conjunction with diameter, it is definitely 'cone'.
Whether the Doppelkonus is a double or a twin cone, I am not sure.

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to select an answer. Trouble is I am still not sure about Doppelkonus. I finally used anchor bolt with double cone and added a note for the client. I pondered over Gendebein's suggestion of cone union body but finally decided on this. Thanks to all of you.

Explanation:
Doppelkonus = biconical, double-cone, double-conical [Ernst, WB der industriellen Technik]
that would make your bolt a biconical bolt
I noticed in Siemens, WB der Energie- und Automatisierungstechnik that the word Konus, when used in compound nouns, is often rendered as an adjective, so that would support the use of biconical.
For Konus, I'd use cone (cf. Ernst), and, following that, cone diameter (which, incidentally, is not listed in Ernst).
HTH a bit!
