German term or phrase: Kante (process chain)
This appears to be some sort of connecting element, between groups and functions within the process chain, e.g.The Kante „executes" connects organisational units and groups with functions. A command given between elements?

edge (element), link
Explanation:
Hallo Natalie,

In Routledge you find edge or link as a translation for "Kanten zwischen Knoten in einer Grafik".

I've also seen edge elements, which in my opinion probably fits best. Please see link.

Cheers
Claudia

Thanks for your help. Upon further digging into the internet I found a reference from the company itself using 'connecting element' - another option! Thanks again,

Natalie

-> I know transition elements from database programming, however I don't think that transition fits in all contexts. Therefore without more context, the use of edge element or just edge or link is much safer.
