German term or phrase: WOR
I'm doing a translation on a company that specializes in setting up intranets for other companies. Just a few questions, with the translations I think are correct but am not sure:

WORD: WOR
My translation: left as is
CONTEXT: Nutzung von Emaildienst und Browsen ueber WOR.
My comment: I think this is a computer industry acronym that is English-based, so I left it.
Jeff
English translation:WorNet AG, DAS INTRANET SYSTEMHAUS (?)
Explanation:
Acronyms are the hardest thing to trackdoen and I second uel. ---
However, there is a company whose URLs, company name, products and services are so close to your subject, context and acronym that it just MIGHT be what WOR stands for (correctly spelled/capitalized? incorrectly?). Perhaps worth checking out, if it fits your context and warrants the effort.

Thanks for all your work. You definitely went to a lot of trouble, and I appreciate that! The client left me in the clouds, as they said that WOR was some type of company-specific protocol, and they wouldn't let me know what it stood for. Go figure. Thanks again!

It's not a computer industry acronym - at least not a common one

Explanation:
You're probably right to leave it as is; but as far as I can tell, it's not a computer industry or telecom industry acronym. I checked quite a number of sources and references, and came up with zip - zilch - double goose eggs.

If you can, you might wish to check with your client and find out what WOR stands for. Sorry I can't be of more help.

WOR could it be VOR?

Explanation:
VOR's are used for radio signal etc.
transmissions. It would be the same
abbreviation in German (Very high frequency omnidirectional . . . )??
Could not find WOR anywhere.

Good luck,
Lis
