German term or phrase: Festverbindung/Standleitung
I'm doing a translation on a company that specializes in setting up intranets for other companies. Just a few questions, with the translations I think are correct but am not sure:

WORD: Festverbindung/Standleitung
My translation: Permanent and/or dedicated
CONTEXT: Internetverbindung / -leitung als FESTVERBINDUNG / STANDLEITUNG ueber Router
Jeff
dedicated line via router
Explanation:
According to Ferretti, WB Elektronik, Datentechnik u. Telekommunikation, Standleitung and Festverbindung are synomymous.
He gives fixed line for Standleitung, also dedicated line, tie line, and nailed line (never heard that last one).
Brinkmann/Blaha gives dedicated line (leased or privately owned) for Standleitung [and it doesn't list Festleitung]
My little glossary from the Deutsche Telekom lists Festverbindung = permanent circuit, fixed connection, and private circuit

And finally, v. Renouard, Neue Informations- und Kommunikationsdienste, gives leased line (DIN 44302) for Standleitung, as well as point-to-point circuit, tie line, dedicated line or dedicated circuit.

Seems to me you can't go wrong with dedicated line or tie line. HTH!
