Explanation:
Hi Ken, -- Even ater looking through dictionaries and AltaVista, the best I can up with is not so educated guesses, with apologies:

* PV-Serie PV series?
Acronyms can be virtually impossible to pin down, I found LOTS of “PV series” in Altavista (English) from piezo valve to photovoltaic. But in AltaVista (German) only 7 hits for PV-Serie – all different meanings. So I have the impression that this is NOT a general automotive jargon term but something possibily company-specific. Nothing in Wyhlidal, Schmitt or Ernst, for that mattera). I’d go with PV-series and a footnote.

* Null-Serie pilot lot (Ernst; Schäfer)

* Absicherungsserie safety test lot? (wyhlidal)

* Serienbefüllung I suspect the meaning in your context may relate to the production lot rather than to automatic filling, as of containers, perhaps in a logistical sense relating the the supply of parts required to complete the series.

BTW Duden lots _befüllen_ as an uncommon term. There are only a couple of AltaVista hits under Serienbefüllung that relate to filling containers.

I've learned from the client (indirectly) that PV = Product Verfication in this case. Even with this arch-German manufacturer, most abbreviations and acronyms seem to be English.
