German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering
German term or phrase: bauteilgeprüft
used in a tender spec for an elevator system. sample contexts:

Türverschluß bauteilgeprüft, als Hakenriegel

Bauteilgeprüfte Fangvorrichtung P=(Progressiv) als Bremsvangforrichtung...

I found one website for a German valve manufacturer who translated this as 'type tested and approved', but I'm not convinced, especially since the term 'bauartgeprüft' is also used. Is there an English (UK) equivalent?

English translation:Component testing
Explanation:
I was once confronted with a similar construction and asked a QS-Ingenieur to explain the difference. If I remember correctly (I am still trying to find where I wrote it down) Bauartpruefung (type testing) and Bauteilpruefung (component testing) are very different. In a Bauartpruefung only one component/part/product of a model/type is tested, whereas with Bauteilpruefung every single component/part/product is tested (by the manufacturer). There is also the Baumusterpruefung, which is actually for the prototype of a component/part/product and is normally performed by a testing authority. There are usually specified for certain components depending on their use or importance in a given system. You could say something along the lines of ... subjected to component testing.

Good luck.

Thanks -- I think that I can just use 'tested part'. You get the credit for providing the explanation.

inspected components

Explanation:
for Bauteil I found the following:
1. civ.eng. building component 2. techn. (structural) member, construction member, unit
geprueft=checked, inspected, proved, controlled

I would say: inspected components
