In der Waschzone sorgt ein spezieller Düsenboden für eine impulsartige Aufwärtsströmung (up-flow) und
Verwirbelung (vortexing) des Sediments. Bestandteile mit
geringem spezifischem Gewicht werden durch diese aktive Aufstromklassierung nach oben transportiert. Schwere Teile lagern sich nach unten ab. Durch die Turbulenzen und die mechanische Zirkulation im Sandbett werden organische Anhaftungen gelöst, in den oberen Bereich des Waschbehälters hoch-
geschwemmt, über den Ablaufstutzen „Organik“
abgeschieden und dem Klärprozess zugeführt. Ein Schwingstab-Sensor überwacht das Niveau im
Sandbett und steuert den Austrag des gewaschenen Sandes. Unabhängig von der Zusammensetzung des eingebrachten Sediments bleibt so das
Sandbettniveau konstant.
