German term or phrase: Sitzring
In a patent related to a new ball cock:

"Der auf der angeordnete Seite, der Abströmseiter angeordnete Sitzring is in dem Gehäuse fixiert."

Should I use "seat ring" or "packing ring"?

seat ring

Explanation:
I'd choose 'seat ring' although packing ring would also be conceivable.
'Seat ring' connotes exactly, though, that something (the ball cock) is resting on the ring whereas packing ring sounds more like a ring within a fixture.

Who I am to lecture for you really?
Cheers.
