Tech/Engineering
German term or phrase: Bügelfunkstrecke
'Funkstrecke' is 'spark gap', but I'm not sure on the significance of 'Bügel'.
Michael Dollman
English translation:'Bügel'. -handle or bow, pantograph (Stromabnehmer)
Explanation:
Funkstrecke-radio path

My technical dictionary tells me for 'Bügel (Stomabnehmer)- pantograph or bow.
systranet com. technical dictionary gives me for the complete term: Bügelfunkstrecke-
handle-transmit-strain. But I am not quite sure this is correct. It would probably help to have the complete sentence.

Cheers

are you sure

Explanation:
Are you sure about 'spark gap? It may be so, but 'radio link' (or 'wireless link') seems to be a much more common meaning (LOTS of hits on Google)

Even so, sorry but I can't help with 'Bügel' in this context. Possibly something like 'radio hop'?

radio link/ radio path

Explanation:
The URL below quotes "radio link" as translation for" Funkstrecke"( refers to cameras):In Vorbereitung ist eine spezielle Funkstrecke für die Auslösung von Studioblitzen als Ergänzung zu
diesem Funkauslösesystem. English: There is also a special radio link under development for releasing studio flash lights as a supplement for this system,
While this URL offers: "radio path" for "Funkstrecke"
www.user.fh-stralsund.de/~emasch/Dokumentenframe/Fachwrter... Since you already suggested spark gap, I may be completely off track here- and sorry, no clue what Bügel might be..

the distance of hands-free radio equipment

Explanation:
Context is needed to be sure but Google has one hit on Bügelfunk:
"Betriebsfunkanlagen, Bügelfunk und Handy gehören mittlerweile zur Grundausstattung jedes Kurierunternehmens"
which seems to indicate a portable radio (fastened with a clip/clamp)
Ernst:
Bügel m, Spannbügel m / clamp, clip

So if this fits your context...
