German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering
German term or phrase:Donauuferautobahn
Später wurde auch die Donauuferautobahn über einen Kilometer lang in einen Tunnel verlegt.
Danube shoreline motorway? or does it cross the river (i.e., not a shoreline highway).
Thanks once again! Friends - all - I appreciate your help but I'm confronted with the specific problem of rendering this into British and I have to have an idea of what the highway looks like, first hand! 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer
Explanation: Usually shore is associated with the coast / sea, etc - here I think 'bank' is better as we are talking about a river. You would have to be quite descriptive in English and say something like the 'motorway running alongside/ parallel to the bank(s) of the Danube - a bit longwinded, I know but could you play around with that??
Explanation: _riverside_ is the term most often appliedd (in the US) to such "freeways", "highways", "roads", "streets" or "drives". The term can also be, and often is, capitalized if is actually the name and not just a descriptive term.
Long and varied experience living in or near US cities with highways etc./ so named
