German term or phrase: Gelenkfett
This is a term from the automotive field. I would probably use "joint grease" or "joint lubricant" but I have the suspicion there may be a more specific term available.

CV joint grease
Explanation:
If there is a more specific term out there, I can't find it. Schmitt, Kfz-Technik, and Bosch, Kfz-Technik, and Ernst are all silent on the subject. However, there is a wealth of references to joint grease and CV joint grease out there:
To keep this from happening use automotive C.V. joint grease on all the sliding surfaces in the cup & on the dogbones. You will notice a huge difference in smoothness. Lube after every outing. If you use the u-joint driveshaft/dogbone, lube the pins on the u-joint with the same grease or you will be buying another set very soon. The front dogbones do not experience the same type of wear because the dogbones are aligned almost straight between the two cups. NOTE: A poorly working diff can cause the same symthoms, check your findings.
