cradle
Explanation:
"rasten" = to take a break, i.e. rest.
So were talking about a "resting fork", that is the cradle for the receiver on a telephone or other device. You can qualify the cradle, as a telephone cradle, receiver cradle, or if the context permits, some other type of cradle.

Explanation:
Rast- has so many possible meanings, which I feel would better apply! Rasten itself usually means in technical context "latching", i.e. lock in place.
Examples:
Rast-Einbaufassung: self-locking lamp holder
Rasteinrichtung: latching mechanism
rastbare Tasten: latch-down keys
Raststellung: latched position, locked position, .......... yet

Rastwerk: locating mechanism, indexing mechanism
Rastfeder: locating spring

As for Tast-, the same applies:
Tast- can mean touch-sensitive as in a screen, ie. input actuated through touch (Tasten would definitely fall in this category)and yet......

it can also mean probing:
Tastfinger: test finger
Tastkopf: probe
Taststift: feeler

Good luck!
