German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering
German term or phrase:Sturzwand
I don't have much context. The word's there on its own - will be a button in a UI. It definitely IS a type of wall, though (and, no, it's NOT a wall that keeps falling down!). What about "lintel wall"? Has anybody come across that before?
Explanation: Sturz = lintel
Lintels are always used to support weight above in a structure. So a "lintel wall" would be a support wall for a lintel. Your original impulse is shorter, mine more explanative.
"Lintel support" can be found in several docuemnts on the web, though not in combinaztyion with "wall" (as far as I got in serarching).
Explanation: In construction glossaries I found the following:
Explanation for Sturz:
Sturz = Lintel
Explanation for Lintel:
Lintel- A horizontal structural member that supports the load over an opening such as a door or window.
I think your first hunch of "lintel wall" would be appropriate.
They are probably simply referring to the wall(s) that have doors and windows in them.
Hope this helps.
