German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering
German term or phrase:Drehrad
I am translating a description of the "Clapper", a device which allows people to turn on/off electrical devices by clapping. I do not know how to translate this word. It was used in the following: Mit Drehrad, zur Einstellung der Empfindlichkeit (leise oder laute Umgebung).
Explanation: As you no doubt know, a mouse can have a "scrolling wheel". The device in your phrase is also a wheel (Drehrad means turning wheel). But it is used for setting the sensitivity, so it is a setting wheel. I found this Web reference for a setting wheel that is said to be accurate and precise.
There's no special trick meaning to Drehrad that everybody knows, since the owrd didn't appear in Ernst or Langenscheid. Nancy
