with an outside-connection Explanation: Nachgeschaltete Verpackungsmachine/Verpackungsgerät = a machine that is equipped with an outside connection. An outside-connection is a type of socket, it's a technical term. 'der nachgeschaltete Verpackungsmachine' = 'of the machine equipped with the outside-connection' See http://east-elec.com/dzpj/pr-05/pr05-04.htm for outside-connections and http://www.fortunecity.de/wolkenkratzer/486/60/tae.htm for 'nachgeschaltete Geräte'. Machines that are equipped with so called 'outside-connections' make it possible to connect several machines in a row/particular order. I.e: if a phone rings and will not be picked up the answering machine will be activated. In your text it means that because of the fact that the machine has an outside-connection, the product parts are handed to the machine in synchronized order. "Entspricht die Anzahl der gepufferten Produktportionen in Längs- und Querrichtung mindestens einem Takt der nachgeschalteten Verpackungsmachine, so werden die Produktportionen synchron an die Verpackungsmachine übergeben." = "Marks the number of coated product portions layed out in straight and diagonal direction which are being transported with every click of the ratch of the packaging machine equipped with an outside-connection, this way the product portions are handed to the packaging machine in sychronized order" Personally I think the German sentence is way too long, and doesn't make much sense because of it's length and lack of context. As a result the English sentence becomes too long also. The text of the german sentence is confusing and one really has to think about what is being meant with it. It took me a long time to figure out how to put it in English and I'm not quite happy with it yet, but it's the best I can do. I hope it helps :) Internet search and common sense, and knowledge of English and German |
