see bleow Explanation: Yes, it would do. Altenatively I could suggest assembly foreman, depending on the size of the firm. A foremn is in charge of a shift or a gang of workmen, the manager would be in overall charge of the whole assembly. |

Assembly/Installation Manager Explanation: There are so many different possibilities, some of which sound better than others. Montage = assembly; installation; erection; mounting And "Leiter" is no problem. There is an " International Association of Assembly Managers". See: http://www.iaam.org/ So, even though there are also lots of sites for installation mananer: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=installati... maybe your first instinct is the best after all. chief engineer Explanation: The job seems too complicated to be managed by a humble foreman. Good luck. Davorka. Reference: http://europa.eu.int/eurodicautom/ web |

field-assembly supervisor Explanation: While working as a translator for an American engineering company revamping a chemical plant in Germany, the Americans called the Montageleiter "field-assembly supervisor". I would add "field", considering your reference to a chemical plant, which would mean that most erection work is conducted outdoors. Good luck! Good luck! |

installation supervisor Explanation: I would prefer "installation" to "assembly" as plant components are usually "assembled" partly or completely at the works (assembly line)of the producer of these components and are then "installed" at the customer's location by the installation technicians. Installing is a blue collar job. "manager" sounds too much "white collar" and "chief engineer" is too general. "supervisor" is most appropriate to describe the function of overseeing the installation activities on site. experience as documentation engineer of an industrial plant producer |
