4 | mensure section |

mensure section Explanation: I don´t think "diapason" is used in connection with horns. "Mensur" is certainly "mensure". For brass wind instruments, this is the bore. For a horn it is conical - with that characteristic flaring out of the bell, where the horn player typically puts his hand in it while playing. The tube is pretty long, when not coiled up, and can be assembled out of sections, so I assume this is what they mean with "Mensurteile" in the context of Zusammenbau - sections of the column which are put together. There is of course a bit of skill involved here: making the sections right to fit together to form a smoothly flaring column can´t be easy. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2003-03-28 05:13:54 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- The Kalibrierung probably relates to that problem of fitting the sections together to form a flaring (coiled) column. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2003-03-28 05:18:15 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- The Kalibrierung probably relates to that problem of fitting the sections together to form a flaring (coiled) column. |
