In a patent for an electrical machine, this is the material and/or object which allows the magnetic field lines to complete a magnetic circuit. In the abstract, it's translated as "reflux", but I haven't found it used this way in other sources and I'm just not sure. TIA

Explanation:
reflux = flowing back, ebbing.
