"Nur wenn die Arme die Eingrifföffnungen verschließen, ist das Gerät funktionsfähig, eine Sicherheit gegen Streustrahlung"

Part of a laser device. What exactly would the "Eingrifföffnung" be? Dictionaries aren't giving a lot of help with this one, and the word only generates 11 search engine hits, none of which are terribly helpful. TIA for any light you can shed on this.
