Explanation:
This is an engineering term, in which 'i' representst the current and "t' represents time; "i-t" is engineering jargon for the product of current and time, which (multipled by a given voltage) is equivalent to power. i-t protection limits the amount of power a motor can draw over a certain interval, to prevent overheating or worse.
