Hydrologic compounds, incl. for ground stabilization Explanation: I think Hydro here refers to materials treated or readied with water. I don't see where hydraulics come into the picture. |

hydraulically bound mixtures including soil stabilizer Explanation: I think geb. stands for gebunden. as for the hydraulic part: my neighbour works in an institution where mentally retarded kids learn a job. He once told me these kids have to learn how to build brick walls using "chaux hydraulique", which feels like mortar, but can be removed with a brush when dry, so they can disassemble the wall and reuse the bricks to build a new wall. I think the hydraulic refers to the fact the stuff sticks together only by the adhesion of the water, not by chemical settling of the other compounds. This would also be true for "Bodenverfestiger" - you add a compound - clay or whatever - that makes the soil firmer, but you still want it to be soil, i.e. penetrable. |
