Lamellen – in Rollladen contexts

Are these things best described as "slats" or "louvers" or "louvres" or something else?

Internet research has shown "slats" to be somewhat more popular than the total of "louvers" plus "louvres".

Google English, "roller shutters" plus slats: 133

Google English, "roller shutters" plus louvers: 40

Google English, "roller shutters" plus louvres: 79

I would prefer not to muck about with US or UK spelling, so can I please use "slats"????

TIA

slats
Explanation:
would be fine, perhaps a bit dated? Louvers/louvres are fashionable with interior decorators. contractors don't care, as long as they get whatever they specify.

I'm also a bit dated so I decided to write slats and Saskia was first with the term. I also wanted to avoid the louver/louvre spelling hassle.

Thanks to all of you for your help,

Dan

slats

Explanation:
Hi Dan,
I would definitely agree with your choice of "slats". I have found it at several sites of roller shutter manufacturers. I thinkm louver may be misleading to some as it is often used in the context of Lüftung :->

both is used in both applications

Explanation:
HVAC and venetian blinds use slats and louvers, depending on when their companies were started and many other non-technical issues

slats

Explanation:
According to my monolingual Dictionary of Architecture and Construction, which is published by the American Institute of Architects, "rolling shutters" are "made up of small horizontal interlocking metal SLATS which are guided in a track".

curtain slats or just slats

Explanation:
I agree with slats, based on visiting several roller shutter web pages.
Alutech and roll-a-way both call them curtain slats.
Enviroblind's terminology is "interlocking horizontal elements" which sounds pretty complex to me. I'd stick with the two above.
