Tech/Engineering
German term or phrase: steckcodiert
This appears in a patent of a printing device.
Die Tintenmagazine sind in Nachfüllbehälter steckcodiert gehalten.

What could it imply??
Robschmidt (X)
English translation:the colors may not be contained in the slots indicated ...
Explanation:
If I judge from my experience with the outrageously expensive ink or color cartridges and the attempt at refilling, I found out in a costly way that - in my case the 3 color slots - had the color code NOT matching the actual contents of the individual slots. A test with a toothpick showed which color was to be found where.
This, to me, is what it means, to try to prevent users from using (cheaper) outside refill inks. I do not know how to name this little trick in short words but perhaps this helps you find a solution.
