German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering
German term or phrase: Zwischenstege
context: wire mesh belt conveyor for a continuous throughput furnace

"Transporteinrichtung:
Drahtgliederband mit beiderseitiger Rinnenkante, Zwischenstege und gelochter Blecheinlage und Querwinkel 50 x 50 x 3 mm im Abstand von 500 mm

I am wondering if Zwischenstege are little platelets holding the rows of mesh together?
Two other terms will be posted.
Thanks in advance for any help.

English translation:separators, separator strips
Explanation:
Generally speaking, a 'Steg' is relatively long and thin Since you have sheet-metal inserts and these are 'Zwischenstege', my guess is that the inserts fit between the Stege, which thus act as separators to keep the inserts in place. They might also support the inserts (a Steg can do that as well), but this is not obviously so.

Also, in the ref, although it has to do with postage stamps, 'Zwischensteg' clearly refers to the strips between the individual stamps. (lots of hits in this context)

connection/transition pieces

Explanation:
I think your initial idea about holding the rows together (probably this will ensure better flow (or transition) of the product over the coveyor belt) is right.

Good luck,
