German term or phrase: Fussplaettchen/Fusstreifen
in a list of car components
Jayne White
English translation:?? "toeboard or toe board" = "front floor extension" ??
Explanation:
Also from Pons-Schmidt Fachwörterbuch der Kfz-Technik, these could be alternative names for "Fußblech" = "toeboard or toe board" = "front floor extension" = "Das vordere Querblech, das die Pedale aufnimmt und als Stützblech für die Füße des Beifahrers (or driver, for that matter) dient; es ist meist etwas nach vorne geneigt und ist an der Unterkante am vorderen Rand des Bodenblech und an der Oberfläche mit der unteren Rand der Spritzwand verschweißt." Some how it is much easier to say in English: "A strip of sheet steel positioned diagonally and welded between the floor and the bulkhead/firewall that serves as a pedal stop and/or footrest." - Again, we cannot be sure of this. - Will one of the automotive experts please step forward?
