German term or phrase: Dachfang
Auf der Baustelle:

Dachfang - Dachfangbereich, Dachfanggerüst
Vesna
roof scaffold, roof safety mesh
Explanation:
Well, after I now know everything about roof scaffolding...

Just joking: there doesn't seem to be an English equivalent of the word "Dachfang". However, I figured out, that they are talking about roof scaffolding and in the ink below, you can find various parts that are used for that purpose. Hope this helps.

Roof flashing

Explanation:
I think that this is the metal flashing that is placed on a roof between corners in the roofline and at dormers. I must say that I am not completely sure because I was not able to find an exact translation for this in any Fachwoerterbuch that I looked in.

roof extension

Explanation:
While I grew up in Germany, people used this term for an extension (home improvement) to the top part of the house, like a room that appears to grow out of the roof.

Dachfang: ...fang = small room

Explanation:
'...fang' in Dachfang has the same root as ...fa{e}ng.. in 'Gefaengnis', that is 'room'.

roof scaffold ???

Explanation:
The words 'roof scaffold' would mean
"Dach geruest" in German. I have never seen a scaffolding for a roof.
Sorry, but I am looking back at 20 years of dinner conversation about the building industry. The only word for scaffolding I know is 'Geruest' or 'Baugeruest', never, never ever 'Dachfang'.
