German term or phrase: redundant zu
"Dieses Not-Aus-Signal ist redundant zum Signal "Not-Aus" "

Perhaps this belongs in the "Easy" category, but what's foxing me as how we would translate the "zum" in this context. (redundant to? redundant because of?)

English translation:redundant for
Explanation:
Could this not mean:

Dieses Not-Aus-Signal ist redundant für das Signal "Not-Aus" ?

Sometimes, the techies who write these things are linguistically and grammatically challenged ;-).

Just a thought.

redundant with

Explanation:
I'am a poor French former "techie" and to translate "ist redundant zum" I would say either,

"is redundant with" (the verb to redund does not exist),

or
"serves as redundancy for"

I searched Google for "redundant for" and "redundant with" : no hits for both combinations.
