German term or phrase: earth leakage current test
Again, I have several expressions for what seems to be the same thing: context electrical safety testing of a fluid warming device.
"Testing involves earth leakage and ground continuity", "perform leakage current testing", "earth leakage current test should be performed with heater in full ON condition"

I find earth leakage as "Erdschluss" and "leakage current" as Leckstrom, but don't know how to roll them into one.

Also, does anyone know what "earth continuity" (as above) translates to?

Finally, about the same device comes the line"..may act as a PROJECTILE in a strong magnetic field". Could this simply be "Projektil"? It doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks

English translation:Erdschlußprüfung
Explanation:
Earth leakage current = Erdschlußstrom (or Erdschlussstrom acc. to new German orthography)
Ground continuity = durchgehende Erdverbindung (also earth continuity)
"Die Prüfungen umfassen Erdschluss und durchgehende Erdverbindung"
Projectile... =
können in einem starken magnetischen Feld wie ein Geschoss wirken

Kriechstrom gegen Erde

Explanation:
Budig, Fachwörterbuch Elektrotechnik Elektronik has your whole phrase: earth leakage current = Kriechstrom gegen Erde

earth leakage = schleichender Erdschluss

earth leakage test = Erdschlussprüfung

For continuity, I found
earth continuity conductor = Erd[schutz]leiter or durchgehender Erdleiter (Kucera) , but nothing for ground continuity

Hope this helps a bit!

Erdschlußprüfung/Fehlerstromprüfung

Explanation:
Wrong heading, but I think you want German.
1. The first problem is, there are 99 ways to say the same think. Try to get away from translating words and focus on the entire idea. When ever there is a earth leakage/ground fault/Erdschluß, there is a resulting Fehlerstrom. Fehlerstromprüfung tests for this.
2. The second problem is that anything from the UK is "earth" something or other (like Erde), the US equivalent is ground, grounding, ground fault.
3. You need to determine if this is a one-shot test of the equipment or an ongoing process (Test/Prüfung/Überwachung) Viel Spaß, Manfred
