German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering
German term or phrase: Ölauflage/Prelubes/Mikrobeölungen
Sentence: Hauptanwendungsgebiete dieser Technik sind die Verarbeitung von Korrosionsschutzölen oder Prelubes mit normalen Ölauflagen: 0.5-3 g/m2 und Mikrobeölungen: 0.2-0.5 g/m2.
I'd be grateful for any help with this sentence. It appears in a company profile for an enginnering company (mechanical/steel/terotechnology-related) and they are introducing their product which is a Einölanlage. Am I right in thinking this is some sort of lubricating machine? CPR-Anlage is also mentioned - any ideas what that could stand for?
Julie
English translation:oil pressure
Explanation:
Julie, I can only provide insight on Oelauflage. It is "oil pressure." This is always expressed as a unit of weight over a unit of area. (The weight indirectly indicates force, as required by the strict definition of pressure.) In America, we use PSI (pounds per square inch). Grams per square meter, as used in your document, is simply the metric version. Sorry about the other terms -- can't find anything.

Explanation:
It appears to be a machine for spreading oil on surfaces for corrosion protection. Thus, an oil film would be created on the surface.

Oelauflage = Oil cover thickness
Mikrobeoelung = Light oil cover

(These are guesses based on technical experience; it may be a start.)

oil coat / coating; prelube / microbe oil coating

Explanation:
coat is from Ernst.
Prelube is English, see 1st URL.
Microbes eat oil, and this is used in different ways. URLs show 2 of them. In the first URL, microbes are growing on oil spills.
CPR is cardio-pulmonary resusitation, i.e. first aid when breathing and heartbeat stop, if that's what you need. Yes, the Ein"olanlage is an oiling machine.
