"Ich will Spass, ich geb' Gas"

English translation: Full on Fashion

21:02 Jun 23, 2005
German to English translations [PRO]
Marketing - Textiles / Clothing / Fashion
German term or phrase: "Ich will Spass, ich geb' Gas"
This is included in a press release for a fashion company launching its new season range. The quote is used at the beginning of the paragraph describing the teen collection. I thought of "Girls just wanna have fun" or something like that, but I think the range also includes boys' things too, so can't really use that idea. Any suggestions?

or why not just \"fun on the run\" if you really want it as close as possible? though i\'d only really say that if you\'re talking about sportswear or shoes or something.

"All I wanna do is have some fun"

Explanation:
Since the original is a song title, it would be nice to use a song title in the translation as well.

Look cool out of school

Explanation:
Or "Be cool out of school". Not perhaps explicitly conveying the idea of fun, but is that what the sophisticated teens *want* to convey? Those I know don't want to look as if they're enjoying life, they wanna be understood.

"Understood in ya hood" - (not serious! a rather dodgy idea as of recent weeks, as hoodies are on the brink of being public enemy no. 1)

"Street cred - no sweat" - another attempt. Not much help if the clothes are a bit "preppy".

Round round get around, I get around ...

Explanation:
Round round get around I get around
Get around round round I get around
I get around
From town to town
I'm a real cool head
I'm makin' real good bread

I'm gettin' bugged driving up and down the same old strip
I gotta find a new place where the kids are hip
My buddies and me are gettin' real well known
Yeah, the bad guys know us and they leave us alone

Look good, feel good

Explanation:
No - not very imaginative, but others may want to take note of Louise's own approach, i.e. no need for rhymes with "fun"

Also depends on whether this is the autumn or (less likely) summer range and what kind of clothes (casual, smart, sporty) ...

... but only if you want to stress the German origin.
The \"über\"-prefix is indeed catching on, as evidenced by Googling.

I don\'t think you necessarily need a song title, though (says he, who evidently can\'t think of one)
Ooh, hang on - \"Here Comes the Summer\" (by The Undertones, but perhaps a tad too direct)
