elävien solujen fluoresenssi Explanation: Geenteknologian kaupallistumisen seurauksena tarjolla on valmiita GFP:n sisältäviä plasmideja, joiden avulla käytännöllisesti katsoen mihin tahansa solun proteiiniin voidaan liittää GFP. Kuvaannollisesti sanoen voimme GFP:n avulla kytkeä solun sisävalot päälle ja tarkastella valitsemamme solun osaa tai rakennetta. Koska GFP ei häiritse proteiinien normaalia toimintaa ja koska UV-valossa vihreä fluoresenssi on jatkuvaa, voidaan myös elävän solun sisäisiä tapahtumia seurata ja tallentaa ne filmille.
