Der Bemessungsregen ist eine Kenngröße zur Berechnung von anfallenden Regenwassermengen. Kanäle oder andere Abwasser- und Versickerungssysteme dürfen für einen Bemessungsregen keine Überlastungen zeigen. Eine verbreitete Regelung für Planungen geht davon aus, dass der Bemessungsregen ein Regenereignis mit einer statistischen Häufigkeit von 1 in 2 Jahren und einer Regendauer von 5 min ist. Abgekürzt wird dies mit der Bezeichnung r(5;2). Die Einheit des Bemessungsregens ist Liter pro Sekunde und Hektar.
