A temperature-sensing element composed of sintered semiconductor material which exhibits a large change in resistance proportional to a small change in temperature (PTC = Positive Temperature Coefficient).

È molto usato per dare allarmi o blocchi, proprio perché a piccoli sbalzi di temperatura si hanno grandi sbalzi di resistenza.
Un PTC 150 °C significa che è tarato a 150°C. All\'aumentare di pochi gradi la resistenza cresce in modo sensibile causando l\'allarme o il blocco. Vi sono anche termistori a coefficiente negatico, che ovviamente fanno sì che la resistenza diminuisca di molto solo per pochi gradi di differenza.
