Explanation:
das letzte mal habe ich davon vor ca. 20 Jahren gehört:
bis Anfang der 80er Jahre wurden Diesel-Autos ausgespindelt. Da es kein Winter-Diesel gab, war die Gefahr groß, daß der Dieselkraftstoff bei der Fahrt in der Kälte einfror. Deswegen fuhren auch viele Diesel (z.B. Mercedes) mit Pappkartons vor dem Kühler - gegen die Kälte.
Mit der Spindel (oder Spirale) wurde im Tank kontrolliert, ob genügend Entfrosterzusatz (=antigelo) im Dieselkraftstoff enthalten (beigefügt) war.
So war das früher - ich hoffe, es hilft
