Viele nachträglich aufgetretenen Kosten, die zur Verteuerung einer Baumaßnahme führen, sind auf Regiearbeiten zurückzuführen. Regiearbeiten sind Arbeiten, die aufgrund einer nicht vorhergesehenen (nicht geplanten) Entwicklung erforderlich und nach Zeitaufwand bezahlt werden, also Stundenlohnarbeiten. Hierbei wird die Art und Weise der Durchführung der Arbeiten auf der Baustelle abgesprochen.
