To Ellen: Good afternoon. Spyros explains in his question that this was one of a list of titles of subjects or lessons or courses taught. I have never heard of a college subject or course called (i.e, with the title) "Pharmacology or neurology data", nor do I think that you will find a lesson or course title with a name like that on any English or American website. All of the Internet examples I have given refer to the term 'Elements of ... ' being used to refer to subjects or courses taught at educational institutions.

When reading sentences like "this course will take the students through the latest pharmacological data" or "this course will focus on pharmacological and neurological data and their analyasis" I cant help being sure that data and elements are equally suitable in the present context.

Good morning. No problem. "Elements" was my first choice, the "automatic" choice. The only reason I decided to give a different flavour in the title of my reply was because a search in Amazon.com gave me the impression that "essentials" was more common in titles of books.
