Office of the Commissioner of Electronic Communications and Postal Regulation In the framework of harmonizing the Cyprus law with the European acquis communitaire for the deregulation of the sectors of electronic communications and postal services, Cyprus since 2002 has introduced through the establishment of the Office of the Commissioner of Electronic Communications and Postal Services the regulation of the above named sectors. Dr. Vassos Pyrgos has the position of the Commissioner and in the position of the Deputy Commissioner is Mr. Panayiotis Kakkouras. Their appointment, in 2002, constituted a decision of the Council of Ministers and their term as a Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner respectively lasts for 6 years. Their responsibility is to materialised the current policy framework of the Cyprus government in the sectors of electronic communications and postal services for the interest of the consumers. Επικοινωνιών και Ταχυδρομείων Μέσα στα πλαίσια της εναρμόνισης της Κυπριακής νομοθεσίας με το ευρωπαϊκό κεκτημένο για τη φιλελευθεροποίηση του τομέα της αγοράς των ηλεκτρονικών επικοινωνιών και ταχυδρομείων, η Κύπρος από το 2002, εισήγαγε το θεσμό της ρύθμισης των ηλεκτρονικών επικοινωνιών και ταχυδρομικών υπηρεσιών με την ίδρυση του Γραφείου του Επιτρόπου Ρυθμίσεως Ηλεκτρονικών Επικοινωνιών και Ταχυδρομείων. Στη θέση του Επιτρόπου βρίσκεται ο Δρ. Βάσος Πύργος και στη θέση του βοηθού Επιτρόπου ο κ. Παναγιώτης Κάκκουρας. Ο διορισμός τους, κατά το 2002, αποτέλεσε απόφαση του Υπουργικού Συμβουλίου και η θητεία τους ως Επίτροπος και Βοηθός Επίτροπος αντίστοιχα διαρκεί 6 χρόνια.
