I can't find the term "thoracic hilum" anywhere. I think this is probably the left pulmonary hilum (Latin: hilum pulmonis).

For πύλη, the Greek-English Dorland gives hilus, porta.
Hilus is an alternative form of hilum.

\"porta of the lung\" is synonymous with \"hilum pulmonis\".
