Explanation:
Fits well in the first sentence; not so sure about the second.

In general I think they are referring to particular additional steps that have to be carried out in a job, after an initial stage of completion of the job at hand. For instance after the initial provisional inspection, and so forth.

Fixes, or touch-ups... it makes sense for a paint job.
In this case it is a contractor, which is consistent. But the action is mandated directly by the police, in which case it is a little difficult to imagine exactly what the contractor is supposed to be doing.

Asker: Thanks. I agree with your comment "additional steps," etc. I'm not as sure as you are about fixes in the first sentence. I think I saw it referred to as Supplements somewhere (and a while ago), I guess it's worth considering.

Asker: That is why fixes won't work here... this is not about a paint job :-). I think I'll stick with supplements and completions, unless some has a better idea.
