szótárban csak akasztófás megoldásokat láttam (have a gallows look), de az adott mondat (egy cikk címe):

Szorul a hurok a bankok körül

ami azért még messze nem a vég, legfeljebb egy kicsit nagyobb lesz a lökdösődés, szóval szerintem egy olyan fordítás nem lenne jó, hogy "the banks have the gallows in their face(s)" - még csak a sarokba szorítás se tűnik megfelelőnek.
