English translation: Zsuzsa ?

Hungarian term or phrase: Tsussa Kendra
name from ship manifest
believe person went by Mary Kendra
vonda simko
English translation:Zsuzsa ?
Explanation:
If it is a name, the closest equivalent in Hungarian must be "Zsuzsa", which is a shorter (but rather widespread) form of "Zsuzsanna". Both names are equivalents of "Susanna". The "zs" should be prounounced as "s" in "pleasure".
You should know, however, that the "Tsussa" spelling is absolutely non-existent in Hungarian.
As for Kendra, this does not really sound like a Hungarian name. Sounds like Czech to me, but even there it must be quite rare. Anyway, I checked the Budapest telephone directory and I found 4 entries of "Kendra".

I believe this responce may be right on. I found it interesting that he decided to check the Budapest directory for the last name Kendra. I have had a distant relative suggest they were from Budapest!!
