Icelandic term or phrase: ...alla lestrana í Vídalínspostillu

098:04 Benedikt."

Quite mystifying to me – also, what could this bit about “alveg eins gott og ruglið úr honum séra Benedikt" refer to, please?
”book?) in order (I take it that’s the essential force of “eins og þeir leggja sig”), and I think (sorry, there’s a bit I don't get here: að væri alveg eins gott og ruglið) out of the Rev. Benedikt (a character in the book?)."

In case you need more context, this is what immediately precedes:

097:21 BAÐSTOFUHJAL [10]
LIVING-ROOM GOSSIP [10]

097:22 Það var á þriðja í jólum, að Jóhanna Andrésdóttir
097:23 kjagaði ofan að Hrafnsstöðum. Hún vissi, að enginn
097:24 myndi vera búinn að flytja fregnina þangað. Það var þó
097:25 óneitanlega gaman, að geta sagt svo óvænt tíðindi.
097:26 Valgerður húsfreyja kom til dyranna.

097:27 "Það var þó svei mér bærilegt, að þú skyldir koma.
097:28 Þú getur komið í púkk við okkur í kvöld," sagði hún, þegar
097:29 þær höfðu heilsazt með mörgum kossum.

097:30 "Æi-já. Ég tók mig nú upp í góða veðrinu. Ég hef ekki
097:31 farið spor út af bænum yfir jólin. Ekki svo mikið sem
097:32 til kirkju," másaði Jóhanna.

All the best,

Simon

..all the sermons from the Vidalin Book of Sermons
Explanation:
OK, this takes a bit of explaining. It was traditional for people to sit on their beds in the baðstofa in the evenings and work at combing wool, spinning and knitting. In some households a person would be chosen to read aloud to them while they worked. Among the most popular books for this kind of reading were collections of epistles and sermons, of which the Vídalínspostilla (Vidalin Book of Sermons) was a famous one.

The speaker is saying that reading Bishop Vídalín's sermons was quite as good as listening to the local priest deliver his confusing sermons.

In this context, one "lestur" is as much as you would expect to read in one sitting, usually one chapter or sermon.

"eins og þeir leggja sig" = "in their entirety"
