Though the problem remains, ermosino is specifically light, see reference comment below. It is probably Syrian, but misnamed as from Hormuz and then misunderstood in English fabric terms...any more textile specialists out there?

Reference information:
here is an image of a sculpture-dress realized by Roberto Capucci of the series Crete (Clay). The fabric is the famous armozeen silk which is light and irridescent. This dress was here in Brescia last year in a particular exhibition at Santa Giulia's Museum, where I work.
