Yes. It has, Tom - and it is disingenuous to suggest otherwise. I have actually acted for (unhinged) UK motorists who have had to take such a refresher course.

The fact that banned drivers take a refresher course has got nothing to do with the refresher course, and everything to do with the banned drivers. Anyway this is not about driving. And I am not "youthful".

There is nothing deleterious about the term "refresher course". Refresher courses are perfectly normal.

No, Lara, shouldn't use 'refresher' as that is a disguised affront, suggesting - as it does - that the participants have fallen short in some respect/s and need retraining, whereas an update is a neutral up-to-speed term. BTW, struck-off professionals on the British Isles - including Ireland, e.g. accountants, doctors & lawyers I know an Eire Uni. law lecturer who administers such Courses have to take a 'refresher' - rather than an update course pre-admission.

You can use either word. It means updating students' skills, not the course.
