Italian term or phrase: città per parti
I'm translating a quite technical article on town planning in the last century which includes this statement: "I quartieri residenziali nel secolo scorso erano stati costruiti con schemi urbanistici basati su una sperimentazione spaziale riconducibile all’idea di una “città per parti”". Reading here and there in internet, I have an idea of what this "città per parti" actually is, but I can't find the equivalent technical term in English (if it exists). Any idea? And thanks in advance.

agree  Barbara Carrara: Hi, Rachel. So, apparently there is no official rendition for this one (both the refs I posted are also in relation to Aldo Rossi)...

-> Yes, actually I think "city by parts" might be best, as I've found it too.
